These events are part of the government and Ministry of Tourism and Sports' effort to support sports at the regional and international levels. The theme of the games, "Green SEA Games" and "Sustainable Paralympics", reflects a commitment to environmentally friendly practices, focusing on waste reduction, the use of renewable energy, and implementing sustainable management technologies. The initiative also aims to elevate Thailand's position as a global leader in hosting environmentally sustainable sporting events and reinforce its status as a hub for international cooperation and cultural exchange.

“Our primary objective in organizing this sporting event is to ensure the environmentally friendly and sustainable of the games. We aim to minimize the greenhouse gases from transportation, using low carbon footprint materials, and selecting the environmentally friendly venues. For example, utilizing renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, or implementing carpooling measures. For the SEA Games, we have encouraged athletes and participants to use public transportation, carpool, or rely on electric vehicles as much as possible to reduce emissions. Additionally, we focus on reducing waste, promoting reuse materials, and applying technology and innovation to reduce environmental impact. This effort aligns with sustainable resource management and climate change mitigation policies. We aim to foster awareness about the global warming crisis and highlight the significance of reducing environmental impacts. We hope these SEA Games will serve as an example of how sports events can contribute to environmental preservation”, said Mr. Sorawong.

Mr. Sorawong also stated that the competition is not just about sports, but it is also an important platform to promote unity among the 11 member countries of the ASEAN. Additionally, it serves to enhance the image of Thailand and promote Thailand’s Soft Power to the world. By collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the activities and presentations will show the uniqueness of Thai traditional culture, as well as the beauty of different regions across the country.
